All caught up

OK, today I spent some time on-line visiting ALL of my blogger buddies (Can you say Carpal Tunnel?). Some links I have removed due to no blogging in the past 6 months or broken links but if you are missing please let me know so I can put you back on there!
The past few months have been a whirlwind at our house but things are back in order and I am focused once again on the blog, of course I still have our Cafe Press store up and running and we are constantly adding new designs. It's just amazing to me how such a small idea (drawing the Magpie) can turn out to be a time consuming on-line business. NOT complaining mind you, I love to dabble with that kind of stuff but it has left me little to no time for blogging and visiting you guys.
To bring you up to speed.....Moose is doing very well with our family and hopefully we will adopt him as our very own. Jasmin is just now starting to tease and play with him so I think she will let him stay...she even looks for him if he and I lag behind in our walks.
The baby's room is done...I don't even need or want to go in it anymore-make for a very long wait.
It's been a little over 1 month since Dane has been gone and we catch ourselves still calling his name.....Moose is SUCH Dane's soul you just wouldn't believe the similarities and hence he frequently gets called Dane.
I have resorted to making ALL of the dogs bones because of this crazy food recall and we get any updates from the FDA right in our e-mail now whenever there is a new food recalled. It's just scary that our pets suffer from this mistake. We have even started to make a homemade diet for the dogs....that's people food for all you non pet folks...like cottage cheese, carrots, peas, sweet potato, and chicken or fish. They love it, I'm pooped after measuring, mixing and making it.
That's about all I have for now...

E.M.S. page

Hello all..I have compiled a few cartoons here and there over my years as a paramedic and have decided to place them on their own blog. The artist is Steve Gibson, Paramedic.
For over 20 years "Gibby" as we call him, has left little cartoons all over the county. I have been lucky enough to have Gibby as my friend and as my friend he has spent many times poking fun at the funny side of some of my 911 calls. Feel free to take a look from time to time as I will add them when he sends them to me. Click here
Please do not be offended by any of the drawings as they are a small peak into how we as EMS providers might deal with stress. Some of these pictures portray actual encounters we have had to deal with along with taking care of the patients.

Great Dane Update!!

Moose has been with us since Friday & we are having fun with him. This big boy was so shy when we first saw him at the beginning of last week but now...boy oh boy....he even knows the sound of Gordon's car & when he hears it pulling into the garage he goes running to the door barking and howling (in which Jasmin follows up with her crying & carrying on) waiting for Gordon to open it.
What a difference a few days of attention can make in a dog's world. Moose apparently hadn't walked much if at all outside, the bottom of his paws looked and felt as soft as a new born puppy's feet. Going on walks took a few days for him to get used to, he still is very light on his feet but they are starting to get tougher (no we do not walk him on the hot pavement either). Moose has his very own orthopaedic bed, blankie and a huge rope toy for tug-of-war, which he loves to do. Jasmin took a big step yesterday and stole his blankie right out from under him, and he just let her do it. It looks as if Jasmin is getting back to her normal self...she now will bark when someone (who she doesn't recognize)walks in front of house but she will still hold back and now let Moose take over gaurding the front door, she stays just behind him where it's safe. Yesterday was the big test, Moose & Jasmin were left in the house by themselves for 6.5 hours and they both did fine...nothing was chewed up! Here are a few pics of the weekend...both of the dogs rode in the back of our SUV for Easter Sunday and they did just perfect together....even with children hanging all over them once we arrived.

Rescue Dog

Tonight we are getting a 6 y/o male blue merle Great Dane from our local Great Dane Rescue. Jasmin has been so lonely that we think getting her a companion would help her with the grief. His name is Moose and he is very sweet, we have spent 2 days this week letting Jasmin get to know him at the rescue and have decided to foster him starting tonight. He is a big drooler but that is about his only fault. If they continue to get along well then we will adopt him permantly.
Dane was a humane society dog & we feel strongly about getting a rescue pet.
If you have never owned a Great Dane let me tell you that they are the most enjoyable pets that I have owned, of course you will have to get used to the fact that they will sit their butts on the sofa and step on all of your toes many many times. These big dogs do not want to be outside without you-don't think just because they are big that they need lots of room....they don't....they want to be under your feet at all times!
I will post pictures over the weekend of Jasmin & her new partner "Moose".
