I'am the Queen at my house tonight!!!

Yes girls, my DH cooked dinner for me tonight and boy was it goooooooood. Don't know what I did to deserve this special treat but it sure was delicious. We had steak seared on the grill, roasted sweet potato spears with bacon vinaigrette and brussel sprouts with buttered pecans....yum. We were watching Rachael Ray last night and I said I was tired of cooking the same 'ole things so I guess he took that and ran with it.
I will be posting the recipes on my recipe blog for all to try. These recipes might sound crazy but TRY IT you will be surprised!!!!! Both of these recipes are from "Gourmet Magazine".
*The only recipes I will put up on my recipe blog are things that I've actually made (or my DH) and are worthy of sharing. (yes I took pictures of our dinner....so I could share with you)

Brownies are here!!

Today I received 2 boxes of No Pudge brownie mix from my blogger friend Tracy........she saw my call for help in finding this brand that just is impossible to find here in my home town. Thanks Tracy...I owe you one!! They came FedEx too..........funny...STAT brownines! Will make them this week and let you all know how they are. The Raspberry brownie was good so I'm quite sure these will be scrumptious.

Today we received a gift from Anna, remember she was the one that gave us the picture of the "split pants". I just love giraffes and she gave Gordon a "Geoffrey the Giraffe" today for baby Mia. Isn't he cute, he even talks when you press his ear. LOVE IT!

Need an idea for leftovers?

Here is my recipe for Turkey Tetrazinni.....uses all your left overs from Thanksgiving. I'm making this tonight.......yummm!

The day after

I can't believe the stores are open at 0500 (AM) this morning....Not for this girl. Today is my day to relax, get a pedicure and eat more Pumpkin Pie!!!!! Hope all of my blogger friends had a safe Turkey day and continue to take this time to relax over the long weekend. Next year I hope to have Mia here to join in on all the Thanksgiving day fun, if not at least by Christmas we should all be enjoying our new little treasures (I hope). Here are a few photos from yesterday @ my DH's parents house. Our Friends Steve & Denise came over with their little one Tyler.

Recipes

I am doing a recipe swap with my May DTC group and decided to put my recipes up on a blog. I got the blog idea from Jonni and have already taken a few of her recipes to try. Feel free to try one of my recipes, I will upload a new recipe every week. My link If you have a great recipe to share please leave me comments or e-mail and I will post them on my site if you would like. Remember we will all be parents to a little one soon and anything that is easy to make is getting made at my house!

We DO have fun at work too

Here is the engine crew flowing the master stream...they were trying to get our rescue soaked as we came over the overpass (Non emergency of course). This is just after - No other cars were around....you can see just how far that will reach....they came close to gettin us! Actually the tank (holds the water) on the fire truck has to be emptied and re filled every so often, that is what they were doing until they caught a glimpse of us coming back to the station.
This picture is courtsey of my partner Kerri...she was carrying her camera and captured the kodak moment.

Has anyone tried these????

I have been trying to find this brand here (Sarasota, FL)without any luck. Drop me a line if you know where I get my hands on some of this brownie mix. It's called "No Pudge" fudge brownie mix.

*UPDATE: Thanks for all the great replys....I will take a look @ The Granary & Cookie Blooms this weekend. While I look my bud Tracy is going to send a box or 2 my way.

Please take the time to watch this video.....this can be prevented and you will be informed how to protect your precious cargo. Also please take a look here at the safety regualtions for your state. If you take a look here you will find a ratings chart of car seats for 2006. Please understand the importance of child restraint systems and the proper use of such.

I'm using the Beta version of Blogger

OK, if you see anything on here twice or maybe 3 times it is because I am using the Blogger Beta version thinking it would be an upgrade with no more problems.......wrong! Apparently there are issues with uploading from YouTube. Now that I have changed over to the Beta version there is no going back (they won't let you) so you will have to learn how this works with me.

Nothing new to report...

After receiving a few e-mails from blogger buddies I decided I better at least post something. I don't have much to blog about this week but....we are still without a washer & that sucks big time. The part is scheduled to arrive by Friday (I'm blue from holding my breath). I'm trying to keep Gordon focused on Mia's murals...now he wants to add a light blue background.....ok he decided this after he has already painted the giraffe!!! I will have to be ever so carefull painting around the giraffe and now the tree & leaves with a light blue background. He has great vision so I will have to just go with it & paint paint paint around his murals. This decision came about after much debate I might add :) What would we be doing if not getting ready for Mia I wonder? I am now involved with my DTC group recipe swap & waiting to start receiving some great new recipes to make. You can always check over at Jonni's blog to get some recipes - I still need to get some of that Frank's chicken wing sauce to make her dip recipe. OH and I will still need to go out and purchase another camera...SOON! My blog will be boring without pictures. Will keep you posted on the progress as another weekend rapidly approaches.

Not a productive day

Well today wasn't one of the best....1st the dryer stopped drying & after the repairman was here, done and gone then the washer broke! Now we have only had these for 2 years and nothing but problems! Kenmore Elite He3T uprights...can't say I would recommend them, they look nice but we have had a lot of little pain in the ass problems with them. Our last washer & dryer lasted 10 years with ZERO problems, we only changed them out because we were re-modeling the house. This evening we took a few loads of laundry over to Gordon's parents house to wash-good thing they are close by.
OK so after that ordeal, Gordon decides to start painting again in Mia's room...he started with the leaves on the tree & you know me I had to get the camera out so I could share with all of you and guess what........the camera is broken! I can still take pictures but the LCD screen is broken & there are shadows in the pictures. Maybe Gordon should paint $100.00 bills on that tree since we seem to be on a spending spree (not by choice). Now I'm looking at buying a new digital camera.....does anyone have suggestions on a camera? I now have a Sony Cybershot and like Sony product line but I am game for trying something new. What I use now is a 3.2 Mega Pixel & for a low end camera it takes pretty darn good pictures. Looking to bump up the pixels to around 6 or 7. Let me know what you all suggest I take a look at.....I also want it to handle lots of memory for video when we travel to China. Well, tomorrow is a new day and HOPEFULLY nothing will break in my household!

Kitchen continued...

Here is the view looking out back from the kitchen's center island. Check out who is peaking in to see what I'm doing.

Guess Blogger has a limit on the number of pics in each post. Either that or when you look at this post it will show up with 5 pictures of the same thing.

Kitchen DONE!

BEFORE
Here are the before & after pictures of our kitchen...I am still trying to pick out window coverings and/or blinds. This kitchen took us 3 years to complete! We hired a contractor with a beautiful portfolio, he started the work then after a few months into it it was getting more and more difficult to get him to the house to work on the cabinets. After 1 1/2 years the contractor split town...no trace and his company had been placed in his brother's name & closed down here in FL. Being the super sleuth that I am, we were able to locate the contractor & Gordon had a few very verbal altercations w/him. Come to find out this contractor had nothing for us to attach to and per FL law you apparently do not need to be a licensed contractor to do business here.........NOT A GOOD THING TO FIND OUT. If the contractor starts a job & completes it to the BEST of his ability then he is off the hook. We were out some big $$$ and our bathroom hadn't even been started by him yet. We chaulked it off to a loss and Gordon found someone to custom stain the cabinets to fill in where the contractor left off. Did you know that other contractors DO NOT want to pick up where someone else left off? Yea it was a pain trying to actually get someone out to even look at the kitchen and give us estimates. So we were left with cabinets and some doors stained and some cabinets without doors. Finally the door and cabinet staining is completed and we are happy with out kitchen. There are a few problems that probably only Gordon and I see but all in all we like the finished product. AS with all my pics, click on the picture to get a clear view.
AFTER

Finally finished!

Well, it has been a work in progress but our master bath is finally done. Gordon only has a few more tiles to place on the wall next to my mirror, grout it, then it will be 100% done. Here are some before and after pictures. Our kitchen is also completed-we know some of you are glad to hear that since it has been 3 years, that was a nightmare....long story will post the after pictures of the kitchen later. Click pics for a closer view. Yes girls...the BIG mirror is my side.

Like our window...Gordon drew it freehand and it took us over 80 hours to complete.
